Echoes of Grief
This photogrpahy/collage project is about grief and hope. It aims to illustrate the overwhelming trauma of war that Ukrainians obtained due to the russian invasion. It has affected everyone in different ways. But what is left in common is living through these: grief and hope.
The process of making it consisted of collaging pictures of the reality of Ukraine and landscapes from overseas, to recreate the following feeling of distress which never leaves oneself no matter how far they would go or what one do. However, there is hope, the unbreakable belief in victory and hope for ones who are lost to come back home.
This project has been made possible by virtue of my best friend and her family, who agreed to share the pictures they took while being in the city of Irpin during russian occupation in the Spring of 2022.
Through creating these photographs I experienced a lot of pain and sorrow, disturbance of depicting what exists, denial of the horror that is happening now. But in the end I tried looking for relief. And in the end it will be, for all of us.
